About Me

My name is Ryan Prechel. I am a fourth year student at UWEC with a computer science major and business administration minor. For my first three years of college, I lived in the same apartment and my older sister was my only roommate for the first two years. Since then I have lived alone. In the summer of 2004, I moved to my current apartment on Water Street.

My newest hobby is aviation. I currently am a private pilot. I enjoy photography. I love to dance and am a student dance instructor for and vice president of Two to Tango. I spend a significant amount of time volunteering, especially with children. I am an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 36; a Big Brother through Big Brothers, Big Sisters; a volunteer for Safe & Sound; and the president of the UWEC Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. I like to travel and have been to a majority of the states and at least ten countries. On campus, I am in the Honors Program and a member of the Honors Program Organization, Alpha Lambda Delta, Phi Eta Sigma, SOPHS (Society of Participating Honor Students), Mortar Board, Omicron Delta Kappa, Golden Key, and Phi Kappa Phi. I am not a smoker and I don't hang out in bars. I love the outdoors, camping, hiking, biking, canoeing, etc. I enjoy participating in a variety of sports, but I am not a spectator. I hardly ever watch TV, but I do like the occasional movie.

I have several jobs on campus. My main job is a Consultant for Involvement Activities with the Activities and Programs Office. Most of my on-campus jobs involve computer programming or web design. I also work for my dad's company on occasion.

I was born on December 30, 1982 and grew up in Elroy, a small rural town in Southwestern Wisconsin. My senior year of high school, my parents moved nine miles to another small town: Hillsboro, WI. While in high school, I was involved in many extra-curricular activities. I participated in Cross Country, Wrestling, and Track & Field all four years. I was involved in student government. As a member of the high school concert band, marching band, concert choir, and madrigal choir, I was a very active musician and even toured Europe as a tenor in the Wisconsin Ambassadors of Music choir. I was involved in numerous school clubs including Spanish Club, Forensics, FUN (an environmental club), Math Team, the school newspaper, FBLA, and NHS. Finally, as a member of the Boy Scouts of America, I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

I am currently dating a wonderful woman named Cassy Miller from Cumberland, WI. She is a CMA at the Shell Lake Clinic. Some of our favorite activities to do together are rollerblading, watching movies, and playing cribbage.
